The Legacy Fund

A continuing public legacy for Kay's scholarship and service.

The Professor Kay Saunders AO Legacy Fund has been created to build an enduring legacy that reflects Kay's extraordinary contribution to Australian history, higher education and public life.

Initial establishment goal

$10,000

Kay believed that the highest purpose of historical scholarship is not only to interpret the past, but to illuminate the present and help shape a better future.

  • Working with partners including the Australian Historical Association and in discussion with The University of Queensland, we are establishing a lasting initiative in honour of Professor Kay Saunders AO.
  • The legacy will be developed in partnership with leading institutions and may take the form of a medal, prize, scholarship, or memorial lecture.
  • The initiative will recognise work that combines intellectual excellence with the capacity to enrich public understanding, inform public policy and contribute meaningfully to Australian society.

The Saunders family have made a founding contribution to the Fund and we are grateful for the generous pledges already received.
